Shovels and Rope is a duo band made up of husband and wife. They blend a classic country/folk sound with gritty blues/rock n roll.  Hearst's vocals have a quality similar to that of Loretta Lynn. They go from songs like Lay Low where the raw emotion and vocal harmonies that seem to wrap around each other oh so beautifully will make you weep...to more gritty and rugged feet stomping tracks like "Hells Bells" and "Ohio" You definately want to check this group out.  - Apryl
